Dick
Clark recently completed a trial in McHenry County. The
case involved a collision between a school bus and an eleven
year old bicyclist. Dick’s client was making a left turn;
the bicyclist struck the driver’s side of the bus and
claimed the bus ran over his arm. This was denied by the bus
driver. In any event, the plaintff had three separate surgeries,
involving an open reduction of the elbow fracture, debridement
of necrotic tissue and eventually a skin graft, leaving considerable
scarring. Future surgery was planned to release contractures.
The plaintiff sought damages in excess of $700,000. The jury
came back with a "not guilty" verdict.

McKenna
Runners. Many McKenna lawyers enjoy long-distance running,
both individually and as a firm team in charitable events, such
as the Race Judicata.
On October 1st, Rick Rettberg ran
his first half-marathon (13.1 miles), the Chicago Half Marathon.
The course for this annual event begins at Chicago's Museum
of Science and Industry, winds its way through Jackson Park,
site of the 1893 Columbian Exposition, then north and south
on scenic Lake Shore Drive, back again to Jackson Park and the
museum. 10,000 runners participated in this race, which
took place on a perfect October Chicago morning.
